Programme History

The Lunchbox Initiative began as a grassroots response to food insecurity among school-age youth in Accra. What started as a simple act of providing meals has evolved into a structured community development programme that addresses root causes while meeting immediate needs.

Over the years, the programme has expanded its reach across multiple communities, partnering with schools, local businesses, and civic organisations to create a sustainable model of community care.

The Fix_First_Feed_Forward Model

Fix_First_Feed_Forward is the operational philosophy of the Lunchbox Initiative. It holds that sustainable community development requires addressing structural problems first — fixing the systems that create food insecurity — before feeding forward into the next generation of community leaders.

Fix First

Identify and address the root causes of food insecurity in the community.

Feed

Provide immediate nutritional support to those who need it most.

Forward

Build long-term community capacity and leadership for sustained impact.
